Department Manager - Replenishment NIGHTS In Training (DPMIT) for the Halifax Market - Training program will be hosted at various locations within the Halifax Market.

During the training program you will develop skillsets and knowledge to support you in your learning journey.

At the successful conclusion of the In Training Program many of your leadership responsibilities will include:

Responsible for all overnight staff specifically focusing on the grocery, dairy and frozen food departments within the store. As part of our Management Team, you will be a mentor and leader, developing your team through succession planning initiatives, supporting our Care, Ownership, Respect, and Excellence (CORE) Values. Part of your responsibility as a Department Manager will include overnight responsibilities for executing the stock replenishment plans and preparing the isles, shelves and perimeter of the store with full inventory and ready for our customer shopping experience each morning when the store opens for business.

No Previous Retail or Management Experience?

At Loblaw, we offer a comprehensive training program to the successful applicant. While the successful applicant may benefit from having Retail Store Experience or previous experience leading/managing a team, we are on the lookout for a candidate willing to learn and take on a new career in Retail.

What you'll do:

• Oversee the nightly operations of the replenishment departments and supervision of all departments within the store.
• Ensure the department meets or exceeds productivity metrics on a daily, weekly, and period basis.
• Train and develop department colleagues on productivity metrics, product knowledge, and merchandising
• Ensure merchandise is stocked, displayed, and priced appropriately
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with other departments to ensure timely replenishment
• Maintain a clean and safe department for customers and employees
• Manage departmental expenses and assist in budget preparation
• Communicate regularly with store management and other department managers to ensure store-wide goals are being met
• Be constantly on the lookout for great talent to join our team
• Lead, coach and motivate colleagues to improve productivity, engagement and retention
• Be committed to maintaining merchandising and operational standards
• Building and leading diverse teams that foster a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging

What you bring:

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred
• Previous retail management experience, preferably in a departmental or specialty store setting
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop associates
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
• Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, and customer service
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
