Founded in 1900, our Halifax site is a proud part of pladis UK's rich heritage in baked goods and sweet treats. Today, it's home to a passionate team of around 120 colleagues who bring care, craft, and creativity to every product they make. What will this role achieve?
The Hygiene Compliance Team Manager will ensure high standards of hygiene across the Halifax site and manage the site's cleaning operatives. You'll oversee compliance with the pladis Cleaning Management System (CMS) and maintain production area hygiene at all times. This role also includes managing site-based cleaning contractors and waste removal partners, while applying lean techniques to drive efficiency improvements.
What will be your key deliverables?
Reporting to the UK Manufacturing Standards Manager and based at Halifax, you will:
- Manage all cleaning activities in and around production areas, maintaining everyday hygiene standards.
- Ensure compliance with cleaning schedules and Health & Safety requirements.
- Plan and prioritise work to maximise resource efficiency.
- Achieve budget targets and monitor performance against KPIs.
- Lead contractor management for cleaning and waste removal services.
- Identify and publish key performance indicators related to hygiene activities.
Bring your experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a hygiene role within FMCG.
- Significant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of Food Safety and Health & Safety legislation.
- IT proficiency and ability to manage data effectively.
- Collaborative team player with strong communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently to achieve results.
Desirable
- Knowledge of bakery manufacturing processes and hygiene systems.
- Auditing skills and cleanliness standards.
- Leadership and management experience (Level 2 or equivalent).
- Awareness of COSHH, pest control, and safe machinery practices.
- Food & Drink Safety Passport or NVQ Level 2 Cleaning Support Services.
What will the interview process be?
1st stage interview –45 minutes - online competency-based interview based on our company values and your experiences.
2nd stage interview – 60 minutes – on site technical interview to understand your skill set/case study or presentation interview.
pladis does also use both Psychometric and Aptitude tests to support our processes so you may be asked to complete these as part of your process. Some processes may differ, but we will keep you updated
