Personal Support Worker (PSW) – 24/7 Live-Out Home Care Support (Vaughan, ON)

Location: Vaughan, Ontario (Weston Rd & Rutherford Rd)

Shifts: 12-hour shifts (9:00 AM – 9:00 PM and 9:00 PM – 9:00 AM)

Setting: Private Home

Start Date: Immediate (Family ready to start this weekend)

Compensation: Please indicate your hourly or daily rate when applying

About the Role

SereneAid Home Care is seeking experienced and compassionate Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to provide continuous, 24/7 live-out care to an elderly male client residing in a private home in Vaughan, ON.

The family is looking for mature, reliable, and experienced caregivers who can provide high-quality personal and companionship care during both day and night shifts.

Client Information

  • Age: 89 years
  • Condition: Post-radiation brain cancer; communication and memory remain good
  • Residence: Bungalow home shared with his wife
  • Support Duration: Minimum 3 weeks, extendable based on fit and satisfaction

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care: bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
  • Provide companionship and emotional support
  • Support with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and laundry
  • Administer medication reminders and maintain simple daily logs
  • Conduct night-time check-ins every 2 hours (for overnight PSW)
  • Assist with mobility and bathroom support as required
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for the client

Care Schedule

  • Daytime Shift: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
  • Overnight Shift (Awake): 9:00 PM – 9:00 AM
  • Two PSWs will alternate shifts to provide 24-hour coverage

Qualifications

  • Valid Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate (Ontario-recognized)
  • Minimum 3+ years of homecare or long-term care experience
  • Ability to manage full personal care independently
  • COVID-19 vaccination preferred but not mandatory
  • Strong communication skills (English required; Italian an asset)
  • Mature, professional, and dependable personality
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Mature, reliable, and empathetic caregivers
  • Previous experience in palliative or 24-hour private home care
  • European PSWs are preferred; however, all qualified, experienced PSWs are encouraged to apply

Compensation
