Winpak Division is seeking a Project Specialist - Energy Management to join the Engineering team based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

As a Project Specialist - Energy Management, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager you'll be responsible for tracking, analyzing, and communicating energy use while identifying and implementing energy conservation initiatives to reduce Winpak's energy consumption. Additionally, you will collaborate with Efficiency Manitoba under the Energy Manager Initiative program and lead activities such as Energy Management Workshops, developing and maintaining the Energy Management Plan, and reporting performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and facilitate a structured Energy Management Plan that promotes a culture of conservation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering to optimize systems, equipment, and operations for energy efficiency.
  • Benchmark energy consumption using performance indicators, conduct energy surveys, and analyze comparative data to identify savings opportunities.
  • Define, track, and review energy efficiency goals and targets, measuring the success of initiatives.
  • Prepare budgets and business cases to support and justify energy efficiency projects.
  • Monitor, report, and communicate energy consumption, costs, and savings while ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations.
  • Act as the primary liaison with Efficiency Manitoba Customer Engineering Services on energy savings programs and initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise and strategic guidance to develop policies and drive sustainable, cost-effective energy practices.
  • Implement and manage Capital Projects as assigned by the department manager.
  • Work closely with various production departments to identify and implement energy savings opportunities.

Required Qualification:

  • Certified Engineering Technician (CET) or Professional Engineer with 5+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical engineering focused on energy management, efficient system design, or facility operations OR 10+ years equivalent experience in energy engineering, energy management, energy-efficient design of industrial systems and processes, or facility operations with Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Designation or willingness to attain the CEM designation.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills related to industrial systems, including electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
  • 5+ years of experience managing multiple energy-related projects independently while meeting strict deadlines.
  • 3+ years of experience creating schematic with CAD
  • 3+ years of experience delivering information and presentations effectively to various stakeholders
  • Demonstrated expertise in Measurement and Verification (M&V) for energy projects and familiarity with relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels and external partners.
  • Knowledge and understanding of industrial controls, mechanical power transmission, hydraulics, pneumatics and strength of materials.
  • Other combinations of education, experience, knowledge, and skills will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in manufacturing or a similar industry

  • This is a full-time permanent position & the selected candidate will work 100% onsite
  • The position is located at 100 Saulteaux Cresent
  • Must be able to travel outside the province and internationally as required
