Your Contribution to Our Growth

We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help our Architect redesign and evolve our reporting and compliance platforms. This role is critical to transforming our existing data exports into a robust, intelligent data insights platform. You'll work with a mix of greenfield and mature systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance visibility, compliance, and reporting across our growing ecosystem.

You'll work on complex data engineering challenges including streaming, reconciliation, KYC/KYT logic, and more, while helping build out a flexible, scalable reporting framework to support business needs across trading, risk, and operations. This is a backend-heavy role that offers a mix of architectural ownership and day-to-day engineering, with opportunities to shape the technical direction of high-impact systems.

This is a Full-Time, Permanent position working Hybrid out of either our Downtown Toronto office or Downtown Vancouver office.

What You'll Do

• Architect and implement scalable, secure backend systems that support high-throughput financial services and data-intensive workflows.
• Help design, build, and maintain the core platform services that drive trading, risk management, user onboarding, portfolio reporting, and operational analytics.
• Drive the evolution of our system architecture, ensuring it is modular, highly available, horizontally scalable, stable, and easy to operate.
• Take ownership of system-wide initiatives from design through deployment, ensuring code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
• Contribute to our platform's resilience by improving logging, metrics and testing coverage.
• Design and maintain core platform services supporting risk management, KYC/KYT workflows, onboarding, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
• Ensure our backend systems maintain long-term operational stability as they scale to support increasing transaction volumes and expanded product capabilities.
• Lead by example in engineering best practices including documentation, code review, and continuous integration.

We'd Love to See

• 7+ years of experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale systems.
• Proficient in software design and architecture, particularly in cloud environments.
• Experience with complex data integration projects.
• Understanding of business strategy and data-driven decision making.
• Extensive experience in event-driven system design and implementation.
• Advanced knowledge of Apache Kafka for building scalable, distributed event-driven systems.
• Experience with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Deep knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
• Deep experience with AWS services and knowledge of best practices.
• Experience in a fintech or related industry, with an understanding of financial systems.
• Interest or experience in blockchain and decentralized technologies.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
