About the Company

Our client is a well-established and growing construction company specializing in Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial (ICI) projects across the Greater Toronto Area. Known for their commitment to quality, collaboration, and delivering exceptional projects, they are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their Burlington-based team.

Position Overview

The Senior Estimator will play a key role in the pre-construction process by preparing detailed cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure competitive and accurate bids. The ideal candidate has extensive estimating experience in the ICI sector, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of full-cycle cost estimates for ICI construction projects ranging from $5M to $50M+.

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents to prepare accurate quantity take-offs and pricing.

  • Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations, ensuring completeness and competitiveness.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to strengthen market knowledge and pricing accuracy.

  • Collaborate with the project management and operations teams to ensure project budgets and scopes are aligned.

  • Participate in tender closings, bid reviews, and post-tender negotiations.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior estimators as required.

  • Maintain and update unit price databases, estimating software, and historical cost records.

  • Support value engineering initiatives and recommend cost-saving alternatives.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of estimating experience in the ICI construction sector.

  • Proven track record preparing estimates for projects $5M+ in value.

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.

  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., OST, Procore, or similar) and MS Excel.

  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.

  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is an asset.

  • Gold Seal Certification or PQS designation considered an asset.
