Prasad & Company is looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our team.
The ideal candidate is a professional with strong leadership, management, and time management skills who enjoys developing relationships with clients. Our Senior Staff Accountants collaborate with Senior Managers, and Partners to build relationships with clients and ascertain how clients' needs align with the firm's service offerings, as well as identify potential areas to service the client in other areas. They must be adaptable, flexible, possess strong technical skills and multi-tasking skills to manage all these components while working on multiple engagements at the same time. As well, our Senior Staff Accountants directly mentor Intermediate and Junior Staff Accountants regarding professional conduct, customer service, sharing technical knowledge, and reviewing their work. They manage small teams of employees to ensure that workflow is efficient, and deadlines are being met.

Responsibilities:
- Manage an assigned block of client engagements, including Compilation, Review, Audit, and all related corporate/personal tax filings;
- Maintain a professional relationship with clients and provide impeccable customer service skills;
- Ensure all major audit and accounting concerns are properly identified and resolved in a timely manner;
- Develop strong understanding of the clients' business, financial and tax affairs;
- Deliver industry and technical expertise in audit and assurance through client interactions, reports, technical work, management presentations and the creation of high-quality deliverables;
- Manage project financials (budgets, WIP, timely billing, etc.);
- Think strategically about client needs by understanding their business and key risks;
- Identify ways to maximize the relationship with clients and deliver added value;
- Monitor project timelines against targets, adjust where necessary; advise clients of project status and seek clarification on discrepancies where applicable;
- Assign tasks and manage workflow of team members working on projects to ensure deadlines are met;
- Maintain high quality control by reviewing work done from other team members for accuracy and completeness; provide feedback to team members;
- Review file issues with staff, ensuring staff fully understand the issue and how it needs to be resolved and cleared;
- Ensure that files are complete and accurate in all respects prior to submitting for Partner for review;
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes;
- Build relationships with client groups and coordinate any requirements for engagement preparation and maintain regular contact throughout the year;
- Ensure all firm policies and standards are maintained and that accounting, and audit standards are met;
- Collaborate with the Tax Department to ensure tax provisions on all files are optimized after considering all corporate and personal matters including identifying and recommending corporate reorganizations when advantageous for tax purposes;
- Actively manage staff performance and development goals on an ongoing basis;
- Develop, coach, and train team members towards professional and personal development;
- Provide staff with instructions, and maintain an open line of communication, to ensure that the staff have the appropriate information and knowledge to properly complete work assigned to them;
- Takes responsibility for one's own and team members' performance by setting clear goals and tracking progress against those goals, addresses performance issues, is highly organized, uses personal judgement and decision making.
Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of ASPE, CAS and Canadian review standards;
- CPA designation with membership in good standing with CPA Ontario;
- A minimum of 4 years of public accounting experience as a Staff Accountant is a must;
- Team player and excellent communication skills;
- Strong self-starter with strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills;
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
- Working knowledge of CaseWare, Jazz IT and Profile or Tax Cycle is an asset;
- Intermediate user of Microsoft Office Suite.
