Job Title: Registered Dental Hygienist

Location: Dentistree Family Dental Clinic, 1340 Hemlock Rd, Unit 106, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Position Overview:

Dentistree Family Dental Clinic is excited to announce an opening for a Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic team in Ottawa. We are looking for an experienced, compassionate, and motivated individual who is committed to providing exceptional dental care and promoting optimal oral health. Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care & Assessments:
  • Perform comprehensive dental cleanings (scaling, polishing, and root planning) to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth.
  • Conduct thorough oral health assessments, including reviewing medical histories, taking and interpreting X-rays, and documenting findings.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and diet recommendations to promote long-term oral health.
  • Preventive Treatments & Therapies:
  • Administer fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive services to support patients' oral health.
  • Assist in the management and treatment of periodontal disease through non-surgical interventions like scaling and root planning.
  • Apply local anesthetics, as needed, in accordance with established protocols to ensure patient comfort during treatments.
  • Patient Education & Communication:
  • Provide patients with detailed oral hygiene instructions, helping them understand the importance of preventive care and maintaining healthy teeth and gums.
  • Discuss post-treatment care and preventive strategies with patients to ensure continued oral health.
  • Engage with patients in a compassionate manner, making sure they are comfortable and informed throughout their visit.
  • Sterilization & Infection Control:
  • Follow clinic protocols to sterilize and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and workspaces to ensure a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff.
  • Adhere to all infection control and health and safety standards set by the clinic and relevant governing bodies.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork:
  • Work closely with the dentist, dental assistants, and other team members to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Assist the dentist with procedures, including patient preparation and sterilization of tools.
  • Maintain effective communication with the team to provide the best possible care for each patient.
  • Record Keeping & Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans, radiographs, and progress notes.
  • Ensure patient information is documented in accordance with clinic protocols and privacy regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with a valid license.
  • Dental Hygiene diploma from an accredited institution.
  • Previous experience with ClearDent dental software is an asset but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of dental hygiene procedures, including scaling, prophylaxis, fluoride treatments, and periodontal care.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with patients.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a busy environment.
  • A compassionate and patient-focused approach to providing dental care.
