Asbestos Testing & Operations Support (
Field Technician) –
role supports the Operations and Management teams by performing asbestos and hazardous materials field surveys, collecting and delivering samples to the laboratory, providing all necessary data and documentation for the completion of HazMat reports, managing warehouse organization - tools and supplies and assisting with site logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

Field Work

  • Conduct field sampling for asbestos, lead, and other hazardous materials following WorkSafeBC guidelines.
  • Take detailed field notes, measurements, and photos for each assessment.
  • Safely transport and deliver collected samples to the analytical laboratory.
  • Perform on-site walkthroughs and assist with initial project documentation.
  • Pick up tools, materials, and waste at job completion.

Operations Support

  • Arrive early at the office to prepare tools, materials, and equipment for daily operations.
  • Maintain the warehouse clean, organized, and compliant with safety requirements.
  • Deliver tools, filters, and supplies to crews on-site when required.
  • Sort and prepare waste and recyclables for proper disposal.
  • Track tool use, labeling, and maintenance schedules.

Communication & Reporting

  • Provide clear notes, photos, and forms to the Operations Manager for report preparation.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and project coordinators regarding field status and needs.
  • Report any safety concerns, deficiencies, or incidents immediately.

Education & Training Qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma required; post-secondary or technical training preferred.
  • Asbestos Awareness Training or HazMat Surveyor training is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving record.

Experience Requirements

  • 1–2 years in construction, demolition, abatement, or environmental testing preferred.
  • Basic understanding of hazardous materials handling and safety practices.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving materials and equipment.
  • Comfortable using mobile apps for site photos and reporting (e.g., CompanyCam).
  • Basic computer literacy (Excel, Word, email).

Compensation

  • Full-time position (min 30 hrs/week).
  • Hourly rate: $21–$25/hr depending on experience.
  • Probation period: 3 months.
