Job Title: Private Personal Support Worker (PSW) for Mother

Location: Burlington, Ontario (Alton Village)

Job Type: Part-Time

Schedule: Flexible hours, 7 days a week, with a focus on a core shift of 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM with an evening shift.

Compensation: $25 - $38 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

About the Role:

We're looking for a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide care for our mother in her home. She is a kind and gentle individual with limited mobility due to a stroke. She requires full support to ensure her comfort, safety, and well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Full Personal Care: Assisting with all aspects of personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Safe Transfers: Using a lift to safely transfer her between her bed and a chair.
  • Medication Administration: Ensuring she receives her medications accurately and on time.
  • Meal Preparation & Feeding: Administering a liquid or tube-feeding diet and preparing any other meals or snacks as needed.
  • Light Housekeeping: Performing light household duties, such as laundry, tidying up, and keeping her living space clean.
  • Companionship: Providing engaging, friendly, and chatty companionship. Our mother has trouble speaking but loves listening to stories and conversations. We are seeking someone who is a great conversationalist and can provide a warm, stimulating presence.

Qualifications:

  • PSW certification or equivalent training is highly preferred.
  • Experience is a strong asset, particularly with stroke patients or individuals with limited mobility.
  • A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle are required.
  • Familiarity with lifts and safe transfer techniques is required.
  • Experience with liquid or tube feeding is essential.
  • Knowledge of physical movement or physical therapy techniques is a valuable asset.
  • Polish-speaking is an asset.
  • A compassionate, super-friendly, and chatty demeanor.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • References are required.
