Role Description

We are seeking a dedicated full-time, on-site Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join our team in Edmonton, AB. This role is ideal for individuals pursuing a career in occupational health and safety who thrive in a fast-paced setting and possess comprehensive knowledge of hazardous materials.

Job duties:

  • Preparing and calibrating sampling equipment for field use,
  • Completing field work under the direction of a Project Manager,
  • Understanding the application of occupational health and safety principles and regulations, especially as they relate to industrial hygiene and hazardous materials,
  • Traveling to multiple client sites, setting up of sampling equipment, reviewing site conditions and collecting data,
  • All work to be completed within Alberta. The majority of traveling will be within Edmonton City limits, however some projects may require traveling outside of the City,
  • Flexibility required in meeting client schedules which may require working outside regular work hours (after 4:30pm, weekends and STAT holidays),
  • Basic client liaison to ensure health and safety needs are addressed in a timely manner,
  • Conducting site work associated with monitoring of hazardous materials abatement projects (e.g. asbestos, mould, lead, silica, etc.), including onsite supervision of contractor activities and collection of applicable air samples,
  • Collecting samples pertaining to the above for accurate logging on chain of custody documents and submitting to independent laboratories for analysis,
  • Identifying site issues or project concerns and recommending quick response corrective actions using critical thinking techniques, and
  • Preparing multiple detailed technical reports within tight deadlines on a daily basis.

Qualifications

  • Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental diploma / certificate / degree an asset
  • 3 to 10 years experience in occupational health and safety
  • Certifications such as CRSP, CIH, ROHT or ROH an asset
  • Proficiency in hazardous materials
  • Unrestricted Class 5 Driver's License valid in Alberta, reliable personal vehicle and a good driving record
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Google Suite)
  • Experience in the consulting industry (specifically asbestos industry) an asset
  • Technical and enthusiastic approach to work
  • Ability to adapt and work in a team environment and work independently
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written skill
  • Flexibility with respect to after hour work
  • Alberta Asbestos Worker Course an asset
  • AHERA Building Inspector Course an asset

Salary:

Salary range:
$60,000 to 85,000

The final salary awarded for this position may vary from the above range based on applicant's education, experience and qualifications.
