Since 2015, we've been building the Shakepay app to make buying and earning bitcoin fast, easy, and secure. In 2022, we launched the Shakepay Card, allowing shakers to earn bitcoin rewards when they shop. Today, more than one million Canadians use Shakepay to grow their bitcoin savings and take control of their financial future.

Principal Product DesignerAs a Principal Product Designer at Shakepay, you'll be the most senior individual contributor on the team, setting a high bar for craft and execution, mentoring other designers, and raising the quality of Shakepay's core product experiences.
You'll own design for key product areas, partnering closely with Product and Engineering to deliver experiences that are intuitive, consistent, and unmistakably Shakepay. You'll also evolve our design systems and team practices to help scale quality and consistency as we grow.
What you'll be doing- Own end-to-end design for key product areas: From research and discovery to prototyping, testing, and polished execution - delivering experiences that delight customers and drive measurable business impact.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering: Partner with PMs and engineers early and often - aligning on problems, defining success, and ensuring design intent is carried through to implementation.
- Champion customer understanding: Use qualitative and quantitative insights to inform design decisions, helping the team stay anchored in customer needs while driving toward business goals.
- Elevate design quality and consistency: Collaborate with the team to evolve Shakepay's design systems, ensuring a unified experience across our app, web, and marketing touchpoints.
- Contribute to design culture and process: Help define how design works at Shakepay - be the person leadership looks to for taste, standards, and direction.
- Mentor and guide other designers: Support the growth of our design team by providing thoughtful feedback, sharing best practices, and fostering a culture of craft, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
- 8+ years of experience in product design, with a strong track record of shipping consumer products.
- Deep experience designing end-to-end user journeys across mobile and web.
- Proven ability to balance craft, systems, and strategy - zooming in to the pixel level and out to the customer journey with equal clarity.
- Deep understanding of component-based design systems and scalable design patterns.
- Excellent communication skills - able to articulate design decisions clearly to both designers and non-designers.
- A natural collaborator who thrives in cross-functional teams and values strong partnerships with Product, Engineering and Marketing.
