Job DescriptionAECOM's Transit and Rail team is seeking a Senior Rail Engineering Advisor. This seasoned rail professional will lead technical excellence and mentor emerging talent across major LRT and freight rail projects in Western Canada. With flagship projects in Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver—and global reach through AECOM's international portfolio—this role offers unmatched variety, flexibility, and impact.
Leaning on your extensive experience designing and constructing rail corridors, your primary mission will be to help develop the next generation of rail professionals.

What You'll Do
As a Senior Transit & Rail Specialist, you'll leverage your deep experience in rail corridor design and construction with tasks that could include:
Provide expert guidance to clients, contractors, and internal teams on technical matters.
Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering technical growth and leadership.
Support proposal development and advise on technical strategies.
Conduct quality reviews of design deliverables with a focus on constructability.
Visit project sites and supervise field work, identifying improvement opportunities.
Solve novel engineering challenges by driving forward with innovative, practical solutions.
Build and support a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
Whether you're transitioning toward retirement or seeking a flexible leadership role, AECOM can offer casual, part-time, or full-time arrangements. For part-time or full-time arrangements, a hybrid schedule is expected in our Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver office, while a casual position may be fully remote.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree with 8 years of rail-related design or construction experience, or;
15 years of rail-related design or construction experience.
Preferred Qualifications
20+ years of rail-related design or construction experience.
Thorough knowledge of client and industry standards (CPKC, CN, City of Edmonton, City of Calgary, Translink, AREMA, etc.)
Extensive Technical Lead experience.
Proven consulting and leadership background.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
