Based in Surrey, BC, LMDSS provides essential information, support, and resources to individuals with Down Syndrome and their families across British Columbia. We work tirelessly to advocate for appropriate resources, foster meaningful opportunities, and elevate public awareness about Down Syndrome.

About the Role

As a
Board Member
, you'll play a crucial part in shaping the future of LMDSS. This
volunteer hybrid role
allows you to contribute remotely while engaging in key initiatives that impact our community. Your responsibilities include:

  • Participating in board meetings and strategic planning.
  • Advocating for our mission and driving meaningful change.
  • Supporting fundraising, outreach, and networking efforts to expand our reach.

The IT and Cyber Security role is to provide strategic oversight, risk governance, and expert guidance on matters related to IT infrastructure, digital transformation, data privacy, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. The ideal candidate will provide governance, oversight, and strategic guidance on all Information Technology systems.

Who We're Looking For

We need
enthusiastic leaders
with:

Experience in nonprofit organizations or advocacy work.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

A strategic mindset for decision-making and problem-solving.

Knowledge of Down Syndrome advocacy and support services.

A passion for governance and board leadership.

A commitment to our mission and values.

Proven leadership experience in IT, cybersecurity, digital strategy, or enterprise technology.

Ability to commit time for board meetings, committee service and advisory responsibilities.

Previous board or committee experience is a plus, but
your passion matters most
