What You'll Be Doing

  • Operating excavators and backhoes on underground utility projects – storm, sanitary, and watermain installations
  • Digging trenches safely around existing utilities and maintaining proper line and grade
  • Working hand-in-hand with the pipe layer and foreman to keep production moving efficiently
  • Preparing trenches with accurate depth and slope for bedding and pipe installation
  • Backfilling and compacting to spec after inspections
  • Maintaining your equipment and keeping your work area clean and safe

What You Bring

  • Proven experience on civil underground utility projects (municipal or private)
  • Skilled with both excavators and backhoes in deep trench, confined, and multi-utility environments
  • Strong understanding of grades, trench safety, and shoring systems
  • Ability to spot for utilities, work safely around live lines, and support your crew when needed
  • A calm, steady approach — even when the trench is tight or the day is long
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid BC Driver's License with clean Driver's Abstract is a must
