Douglass Residential College, a part of Rutgers University – New Brunswick, is an innovative undergraduate higher education institution specifically for women. The opportunity to teach with Douglass Residential College is an opportunity to teach within the Department of Women's and Gender Studies where the course is housed. The course is foundation for all students at Douglass, and it is a requirement for students who enroll in the College. Teaching with Douglass is a collaborative and meaningful experience where instructors interact with each other and with the peer mentor assigned to their courses. Requirements include the following. o Teach one 3.0 undergraduate courses, Knowledge and Power: Issues in Women's Leadership. o Meet all course times/dates. o Attend 1 orientation, 2 required workshops, 4 required plenaries, and 1 breakfast. o Plan and prepare lessons. o Grade assignments within 48 hours and return the grades with comments and rubrics to students via Sakai or related platform. o Meet with the assigned student mentor, the Barbara Voorhees Mentor, as needed. o Meet with students enrolled in the course as needed. o Adhere to the common syllabus. Post the syllabus on Canvas before your first class meeting. o Adhere to course, department, college, and university procedures. o Maintain up to date grades and records on Canvas for student access. o Submit midterm warning grades by the published deadline. o Submit final grades to the Assistant Dean and/or Douglass Course Director via email and to the University via REGIS 48 hours after your class ends. o Collaborate with Douglass Residential College and the Department of Women's and Gender Studies as needed.
