Reporting to the Retail Home Centre Manager, responsibilities for this position include the following:

  1. Daily operation of the retail floor, to ensure an acceptable standard is achieved. Schedule, guide and direct activities of sales on retail floor. Guide the hardware and warehouse receiving teams in daily operations. Ensures regular inventory counts are being done by creating a schedule for the team.  Procurement and replenishment of hardware. Administers budget within department related to staffing, inventory, etc. Applies operational knowledge in key performance areas to oversee the allocation of team assignments to achieve department objectives.

    Prepares, administers and achieves budgeted department goals related to pricing, sales, margin, expenses and inventory. Ensures the efficient operation of the department to achieve all financial targets and deliver on budgeted KPI's. Analyze period end statements, identify if corrective action is required, and provide recommendations to the Retail Home Centre Manager. May plan, monitor, and manage internal projects from initiation to completion.

  2. Assists the Retail Home Centre Manager in communicating operational requirements, operational changes, and translate the vision into departmental initiatives. Provide recommendations and supports internal pricing, promotion and product policies in response to local market needs and competition. Ensures all applicable company policies and procedures are communicated and adhered to and ensure safety and regulatory requirements and procedures are implemented and maintained.

  3. Ensure merchandising, customer service, and sales floor image standards are upheld.. Provides support in division brand initiatives and works to achieve brand objectives for department. Ensures prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service is provided at all times. Maintains high customer service levels to ensure customer satisfaction and identifies areas for improvement. Ensures all customer complaints, adjustments, and returns are handled in a quick and efficient manner.  Take corrective action with team members if the established standards are not being met.

  4. Provide leadership to the department, including goal setting, performance management, training and development of team members. Lead and train sales floor on product knowledge, policies, and procedures team member appraisals in timely fashion. Leads weekly team member meeting. Lead and train hardware team and cashier team. Conduct regular team meetings. Responsible for goal setting, performance management, and training and development for team members. Provides supervision and support to the team and trains and coaches to increase product knowledge. Provide guidance to team members in the application of policies, practices, and procedures. Applies operational knowledge in key performance areas to oversee the allocation of team assignments to achieve department objectives.

  5. Responsible for coordination and supervision of safety, asset protection, and operational policies.

Qualifications:


• Candidates will have at a minimum their Grade 12 Diploma, with preference being given to those with post-secondary certification or equivalent.


• 5-8 years' of experience in a retail setting is required. Minimum 3-5 years hardware or lumber and building materials experience.
