Job Summary

North Bay family looking for a part-time caregiver to provide 24 hour care for our elderly mother. The ideal candidate has a caring, compassionate personality, and can stay with our mother for two shifts per week ( 48 hours). This person would be responsible for assisting with personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping duties.

Personal Support Services and Respite Services are currently in place on a regular basis to assist with personal care and to provide respite relief.

The salary is based on a daily (24) hour rate, not an hourly rate.

Successful applicants will be asked to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and employment and personal references.

Duties

  • Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
  • Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Provide companionship and engage in meaningful activities to promote mental well-being.
  • Administer medication as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers to ensure safety and comfort.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
  • Communicate effectively with family members and healthcare providers regarding client needs and progress.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in caregiving, senior care, or related fields is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with meal preparation and dietary considerations for seniors.
  • Experience in hospice care or nursing home settings is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
  • Ability to follow instructions from nurses or healthcare professionals effectively.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours as needed.
