At CBCL, we are a dynamic and growing engineering and environmental consulting firm with an exciting opportunity for a Civil Site Representative to join our Municipal team in Nova Scotia
Bring your technical expertise and passion for fieldwork to a collaborative team that takes pride in designing and delivering essential municipal infrastructure projects. You'll play a hands-on role in advancing projects that strengthen and sustain our communities — from shoreline protection and stormwater systems to water and sewer extensions, road reconstruction, and site development.
As part of our team, you'll play a key role in phases of project delivery from design to construction. You will collect field data during design such as topographic survey, flow measurements in rivers or stormwaters, and prepare preliminary base plans of existing conditions. During construction you will ensure quality and compliance through detailed site observation. You'll visit project locations across the province, monitoring progress, verifying adherence to design specifications, and supporting safe work practices. In addition to field activities, you'll contribute to topographic surveys that inform studies, designs, and quantity estimates, and prepare accurate site plans using AutoCAD and Civil 3D. You'll collaborate closely with engineers, technologists, and construction professionals who value teamwork, technical excellence, and a strong commitment to safety.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to maintain alignment throughout the project;
- Identify and address issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner to support successful project delivery;

- Observe on-site activities, ensuring all infrastructure complies with drawings and specifications;
- Coordinate and witness field testing for watermains, sewer mains, and storm sewers;
- Conduct field measurements and track quantities, accurately documenting daily progress and on-site activities;
- Perform topographic and construction surveys using RTK and total station survey equipment to support design and construction efforts;
- Prepare detailed site plans and quantity estimates using AutoCAD and Civil 3D; and,
- Promote and monitor safety on-site, ensuring all activities comply with safety protocols and standards.
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
- At least three years of experience in civil field work including survey and construction observation, with experience in an engineering consulting environment considered a strong asset;
- Technical understanding of water, sewer, and stormwater system design;
- Willingness to take on on-site representation duties for extended periods across Nova Scotia;
- Experience working in urban environments, coastal environments, and industrial environments;
- Familiarity with Halifax Water and HRM design standards;
