Contract Fund Development and Event Coordinator

Position Overview

As a member of the BGC Fort McMurray Administrative Team, the Fund Development and Event Coordinator is responsible for the positive representation of the club to the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo Region. This is a part-time position focused on planning, managing, and overseeing all fundraising events and community engagements.

A successful Fund Development and Event Coordinator must have strong relationship-building skills, a focused work ethic, and a strategic growth mindset. The role directly supports our mission: To provide safe, supportive places where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Community Engagement

· Develop and maintain professional working relationships with various stakeholders, sponsors, partners, donors, and volunteers.

· Maintain professional communication with BGC leadership, Board of Directors, program supervisors, and coordinators.

· Oversee the planning and execution of Fundraising events by providing assistance to facilitators and liaising with event contacts.

· Cultivate and expand relationships with the agency's donors and supporters, where appropriate.

· Identify and develop public awareness and promotional opportunities.

· Attend networking events on behalf of BGC Fort McMurray to raise awareness and build relationships.

Fund Development

· Collaborate with the Senior Leadership team to create a fund development plan that increases revenue to support the strategic direction of the organization.

· Implement the fund development plan in accordance with ethical fundraising principles, funding requirements, and gaming legislation.

· Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure fundraising goals (as set by the Executive Director) are being achieved and challenged.

· Monitor trends in the community and adapt fundraising strategies as necessary.

· Develop, execute, and evaluate annual schedules for fundraising opportunities, sponsorship initiatives, and other campaigns, aligned with grant and sponsorship quotas established by the Executive Director.

· Collaborate with the Senior Leadership team to develop a Donor Recognition Program for all BGC Fort McMurray donors.

· Oversee the maintenance, ongoing development, and administration of the Donor Recognition Program.

· Work alongside the Community Engagement Coordinator on BGC events with a focus on generating funds for the organization.

· Prepare post-event reports and conduct post-event meetings with key stakeholders to plan for the following year.

· Recruit and engage volunteers to ensure appropriate coverage and support for special events.

· Actively seek funding opportunities and partnerships within the community.

· Report on activities monthly to the Executive Director.

Qualifications

Required:

· Minimum Diploma in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, Event Management, or Recreation

· Minimum 3 years' experience in event planning, fund development, or fundraising activities

Assets:

· Experience in Donor Stewardship and Recognition

· Previous experience working at a social agency

Hours of Work

25 hours per week with some weekend and evening work required to support fundraising activities and events. High-flex work is supported and encouraged as needed to achieve outcomes and meet deadlines.

Contract Terms

6-month contract position with evaluation at month 3. Possibility of permanent position based on revenue generation and performance metrics.

Position Expectations: This role is expected to pay for itself through increased revenue from donations, sponsorships, fundraiser totals, merchandise sales, and completed grants. Revenue targets will be established by the Executive Director prior to contract start.
