About Fighting Blindness Canada (FBC).
FBC is the largest charitable funder of vision research in Canada. Over our 50+ year history, FBC has contributed critical funding for the development of sight-saving treatments and cures for blinding eye diseases. We are also an invaluable resource for individuals and families impacted by blindness, providing accurate eye health information through our website and education events, as well as engaging with government and other stakeholders to advance better vision health policies.
About the Role.

FBC is seeking a Manager, Special Fundraising Events to lead the planning and execution of a new signature evening event in support of vision research and eye health. You'll also play a key supporting role in MOVE FOR SIGHT, FBC's national peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, and collaborate to deliver on other fundraising events throughout the year.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Event Design (10%)
- Support the Director, Development, in designing an impactful and engaging fundraising event that attracts both new and returning supporters.
- Collaborate across departments to conceptualize a unique, elegant, and mission-driven event experience.
- Lead the development and execution of the overall event plan, coordinating participants, sponsors, donors, and vendors, to achieve event and fundraising goals.
- Identify and implement innovative fundraising tactics, incorporating current trends and best practices.
- Ensure all the event elements are planned and executed with consideration for accessibility and inclusion.

Fundraising Event Management and Execution (45%)
- Oversee the execution of event goals and strategy, ensuring alignment with FBC's overall vision.
- Lead the planning and delivery of a memorable, in-person, elegant evening event, managing timelines, logistics, and stakeholder coordination.
- Lead and collaborate across internal teams, leadership volunteers, and the event committee to drive the fundraising success of the event, including table and ticket sales, sponsorship development, and donor engagement opportunities.
- Secure and manage event logistics, including venue, vendors, entertainment, AV production, catering, rentals, and silent auction needs.
- Manage event-specific digital assets and tools, including maintaining and updating event web pages (using website builder or CMS platforms such as Wix) and coordinating event-related use of fundraising and communication systems (e.g., AKA Raisin, Raiser's Edge, MailChimp, SurveyMonkey).
- Collaborate with the Director, Development and Marketing team to manage event-related marketing needs (event website, collateral, video, signage, and programs, etc.)
- Develop and execute the event run-of-show, including scripting and producing an impactful event program.
- Recruit, identify, and manage event day volunteer needs.
- Prepare post-event reports and evaluation summaries.
- Provide secondary support for MOVE FOR SIGHT, FBC's national peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, and collaborate with the Fundraising Events Manager to plan and deliver other fundraising events throughout the year as part of FBC's shared events portfolio.

Volunteer Event Planning Committee (25%):
- Recruit, lead, and motivate a volunteer planning committee, collaborating across the organization to identify and involve potential members, to achieve event and fundraising goals.
- Provide clear leadership, structure and guidance throughout the planning process, ensuring milestones are met.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with committee volunteers.
- Prepare meeting agendas, coordinate logistics, and participate in committee meetings (usually in the evening).

Stakeholders Engagement (15%)
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with event supporters, key event partners, volunteers, and community stakeholders to ensure successful event outcomes and experience.
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver an exceptional donor and attendee experience, maximizing engagement and retention
- Work closely with the Marketing Communications team to build event awareness, enhance community engagement, and develop strategic promotional materials.

Data Management & Administration (10%)
- Maintain accurate and timely tracking of ticket sales, donations, and key event metrics.
- Create and manage event budgets to ensure financial efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee post-event wrap-up reports and performance summaries.
- Update and maintain CRM records (Raiser's Edge), ensuring all donor and participant data is accurate.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers to secure cost-effective services.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support FBC's fundraising event goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience leading fundraising initiatives, collaborating with volunteer committees, donors, and corporate partners to achieve event fundraising goals.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 5-8 years of experience in fundraising and event management, with a proven track record of delivering seamless, elegant, and impactful events.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, and multitasking skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with a friendly and professional approach.
- Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative team player, comfortable working independently and across departments.
- Website management: understanding of website building, and management, with the ability to conceptualize and update event web content using website builder and content management systems (i.e. Wix)
- Digital and fundraising tools: comfortable working with fundraising and event management platforms (i.e. AKA Raisin, Raisers Edge) and digital communication tools such as SurveyMonkey, MailChimp, and Canva.
- Knowledge of CRA gift and receipting policies is an asset
- Flexible and adaptable, willing to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Valid driver's licence and some knowledge of French are considered assets.
