About Us

We are a busy Esso gas station located on York Road in Guelph. We pride ourselves on fast, friendly service and a clean, well-stocked store. We are looking for a reliable, friendly, and detail-oriented Cashier who can deliver excellent customer service and take ownership of daily store operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet every customer with a positive, polite, and professional attitude
  • Operate the cash register/POS system for fuel, in-store items, lottery, and other transactions
  • Handle cash, debit, and credit card payments accurately
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store, including shelves, counters, and coffee/beverage stations
  • Inventory management – regularly count and record stock for cigarettes, tobacco, lottery tickets, and hard drinks
  • Restock shelves, fridges, and displays as required
  • Ensure compliance with age-restricted sales policies (ID checks for tobacco and alcohol)
  • Assist with daily store opening/closing procedures
  • Provide prompt support to customers with fuel pump issues, product inquiries, or general assistance
  • Act as the "Customer Service King/Queen" – making every customer feel welcome and appreciated

Qualifications

  • Previous cashier or retail experience preferred (but willing to train the right candidate)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle money accurately
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable with handling inventory counts and stock management
  • Must be at least 19 years old (due to tobacco and alcohol sales regulations)
  • Flexible availability (days, evenings, weekends, holidays)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.20 per hour
