THE ROLE:
The successful candidate will assume responsibility for driving sustaining power/performance/thermal product activities and Level-3 debug support working with core engineering, program team, customer engineering, and performance teams along with our extended sustaining team in Malaysia on the Instinct Datacenter GPU product line.
THE PERSON:
A highly analytical, technically adept and versatile leader with broad expertise in silicon power and performance characterization, debug, and optimization. This individual thrives in cross-functional environments, collaborates effectively with design, validation, software, firmware and customer engineering teams, and demonstrates strong ownership of sustaining activities and Level-3 debug efforts across multiple product lines. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, hands-on, and passionate about driving debugs and resolving customer issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead sustaining efforts for power, performance and thermal attainment across multiple product lines, scope out delta validation work, HC requirements, schedule etc working with program and sustaining team.
- Own Level-3 debug for complex power, performance and thermal issues from customers around the world, coordinating across architecture, design, validation, software, and customer engineering teams.
- Develop and maintain debug methodologies and automation tools to accelerate root cause analysis.
- Drive resolution of systemic issues impacting power efficiency or performance targets, implement fixes and validate improvements.
- Drive and lead regular debug and sustaining meetings, ensuring alignment across stakeholders.
- Coordinate among cross-functional teams including design, validation, software, manufacturing, and customer engineering for debug, resolution and implementation of fixes, testing out at customer end and closure
- Work closely with the extended sustaining team in Malaysia to ensure global coverage and continuity.
- Interface with customer engineering to coordinate debug efforts and ensure timely resolution of field issues.
- Integrate and analyze manufacturing screens to proactively identify and isolate power/performance/thermal issues during production as well as analyze manufacturing data as part of Level-3 debug
- Send out executive-level updates summarizing debug status, issue trends, and resolution progress.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers in debug and sustaining practices.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 8+ years of experience in silicon power, performance and thermal characterization, debug, or customer engineering roles.
- Deep understanding of semiconductors, cpu/gpu architecture, power management features, power, thermal, frequency and performance aspect of design and validation.
- Proven ability & hands-on experience with silicon debug tools (e.g., logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, power monitors), ASIC / system level triage and or ASIC / system bring-up with a lab set-up
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Perl), automation and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with firmware and low-level software interactions with hardware.
- Experience with debug workflows and cross-functional issue triage.
- Experience working with customer engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, including executive reporting, leading cross-domain meetings.
- Experience with HPC/AI workloads, GPU performance benchmarks, MSAs.
- Prior experience in leading debug teams or sustaining programs is a plus.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering. MS Preferred.
