K'en T'em is seeking an organized and motivated Operations Coordinator to join our Natural Resources office. This position provides broad operational support across multiple areas, including fleet coordination, equipment management, logistics, facilities, procurement, and safety compliance. The Operations Coordinator ensures that day-to-day operational activities run efficiently, supporting field crews, project delivery, and administrative processes. The role plays a key part in maintaining high standards of safety, cost control, and accountability while aligning operations with K'en T'em's values and community priorities.
Primary Duties
Operational Coordination
- Support daily operational logistics across departments and field teams,
- Coordinate procurement, deliveries, and inventory of supplies and equipment,
- Assist with the development, implementation, and improvement of operational policies and procedures,
- Support health and safety initiatives, including maintaining documentation and assisting with emergency response plans,
- Coordinate and communicate with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth project operations,
- Monitor project timelines and deliverables to ensure deadlines are met,
- Identify process bottlenecks and recommend solutions for greater efficiency,
- Maintain and organize operational records, forms, and SharePoint materials,

- Coordinate logistics for meetings, training sessions, and operational events,
- Act as a liaison between departments and external partners to ensure consistent communication,
Fleet Coordination
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and utilization of all fleet vehicles and equipment,
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for fleet use, performance monitoring, and maintenance tracking,
- Perform or coordinate routine maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment,
- Oversee fleet tracking software and implement necessary actions in a timely manner,
- Schedule fleet assets for field projects and coordinate inspections to minimize downtime,
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and service schedules,
- Ensure all vehicles comply with safety and regulatory requirements,
- Source parts and manage fleet maintenance inventory,
- Coordinate external repairs and services with vendors,
- Support budgeting, cost control, and analysis of fleet operations,
- Onboard drivers and operators on basic maintenance, safety protocols, and expectations,
- Collect and analyze data on fleet performance to identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities,
Safety and Compliance
- Support compliance with WorkSafeBC and internal health and safety requirements,
- Maintain vehicle and equipment safety certifications and documentation,
- Assist in developing and updating safety-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),
- Conduct periodic audits and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and operational readiness,
- Support risk management initiatives and incident reporting, and
- Other ad hoc duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail,
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to create, edit, manage documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and correspondence efficiently,
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and
- Ability to lift and maneuver equipment and work in various weather conditions.
Experience and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary or technical certification in administration, business, logistics, or related technical field preferred,
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in operations, logistics, or fleet coordination,
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a semi-regular basis,
- Valid BC driver's license and reliable vehicle,
- Valid Standard First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain, and
- Experience coordinating logistics, fleet management, or operational support considered an asset.
Work Environment
- Schedule: Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, less one hour for lunch. Hours may fluctuate based on operational needs. The average work week is approximately 35 hours,
- Overtime: All daily overtime over 8 hours will be banked at 1.5x, all hours over 12 will be banked at 2x,
- Reporting Office Location: Office work will be conducted from the K'en T'em office at 1355 Nicola Ave, Merritt, BC,
- Vacation: 2 weeks paid vacation (10 working days), accrued at 0.84 per month,
- Winter Break: 2 weeks paid (max 10 working days),
- Benefits: 50% benefit premiums paid by employer,
- Pension: Pension matching (percentage increasing with years of service), and
