Overview
Under the responsibility of the Telecom Engineering Director, the incumbent acts as a consulting expert on projects. He/she is responsible for delivering engineering deliverables according to schedules and budgets. He/she contributes to the planning and monitoring of assigned deliverables, as well as identifying and mitigating risks associated with these deliverables.
Your Role
The
Network Architect Engineer
develops and recommends directions for engineering activities to ensure compliance with project parameters. More specifically, he/she:
- Coordinates the execution of various projects led by the manager.
- Ensures the delivery of large-scale projects.
- Develops and recommends strategies within his/her area of expertise.
- Acts as a technical expert for operations and during emergency situations.
- Handles complex tasks.
- Oversees technical projects by determining work plans, methodologies, schedules, and costs.
- Designs and conducts various studies (technical studies, feasibility studies, etc.).
- Coordinates project implementation and monitoring with stakeholders from different disciplines and clients.
- Researches, designs, analyzes, and recommends various technical solutions.
- Establishes, modifies, implements, and monitors work methods, procedures, standards, rules, and design criteria.
- Prepares plans and specifications, technical documents, and writes reports.
- Provides technical assistance and acts as a consulting expert.
- Maintains knowledge of available products, standards, and technologies in his/her specialty.
- Performs all tasks and responsibilities inherent to the position or assigned to him/her.
About You
- Holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant disciplines.
- Has a minimum of 5 years of experience in designing telecommunications systems (IP/MPLS network architecture, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of building telecommunications systems.
- Knowledge of engineering processes, design (plans and specifications), construction, installation, and commissioning of infrastructures, equipment, systems, and work sequencing.
- Holds a full engineering license and is a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
- Any combination of relevant training and experience will be considered.
- Proficient in French and English.*
Additional Knowledge And Training
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- ASP Construction card (an asset).
- Knowledge of TIA and BICSI telecommunications standards (an asset).
- Knowledge of structured cabling, radio communication, sound systems, access control, teletransmission, telephony (an asset).
- Knowledge of protocols (Ethernet, MCLAG, LACP, PPP, DHCP…).
- Mastery of Layer 3 protocols (IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, BGP, IS-IS, L2/L3 VPN…).
- Knowledge of IP and IP/MPLS environments (EVPN, …) and collection architectures (L2TP, BNG).
- Skills in troubleshooting EIGRP, IS-IS, BGP, MP-BGP VLAN/trunking, QoS, MPLS, and redistribution between different routing protocols.
- Strong knowledge of MPLS backbone networks and related technologies such as MPLS-VPN, MPLS-TE, VPLS, Fast reroute, and Multicast.
- Experience and knowledge of services in industrial SCADA environments.
- Experience and knowledge in the design, operation, and optimization of IP networks.
- Cisco certification CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or equivalent knowledge.
- Experience with Wi-Fi networks, Ekahau, Cisco Prime, wireless LAN controllers (WLC), access points, and access control servers (ACS).
- Knowledge of wireless networks DAS, GSM, HSPA, UMTS, LTE, 5G.
- Knowledge of fiber optics (SONET, wavelength, laser types, power).
- This position requires knowledge of another language, English, as the work produced is intended for audiences located elsewhere in Canada, internationally, or in another region of the world.
