Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our Childcare Centre team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a keen understanding of food safety, dietary restrictions, and allergy accommodations. As our Cook, you will play a vital role in providing nutritious, high-quality meals that contribute to the overall well-being and positive experience of the children in our care.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–1:30/2:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks for all enrolled children.
  • Ensure meals meet Public Health standards and comply with all allergy and dietary restrictions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times.
  • Complete and maintain temperature control logs and other required documentation.
  • Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering and restocking supplies as needed.
  • Minimize food waste through efficient planning and preparation.
  • Collaborate with management on menu planning, incorporating variety and nutrition.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff (if applicable) on food safety and preparation standards.
  • Ensure all Public Health, food safety, and sanitation regulations are met and maintained.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Valid Food Handler's Certification (required).
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (required upon hire).
  • Proven experience in a Cook or Chef role, preferably within a childcare, school, or similar setting.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, portion control, and food safety protocols.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creativity in meal presentation and commitment to quality and nutrition.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
