The Job Developer, Integrated Employment Services, is part of a high-performance team that improves communities, families and individual lives through effective access to employment. Working at a local Integrated Employment Services Centre or other sites in the City of Toronto, they rapidly help high-need jobseekers obtain quality, sustainable employment. The employment needs in the City of Toronto are intense, and our Job Developers bring caring, energy, focus and skill to address these needs in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. WoodGreen's Job Developers are supported by caring managers, training, tools, procedures, and systems for success. We aim to have the best jobseeker client experience and outcomes available in Canada, and our Job Developers are a cornerstone of this success.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain a caseload of job ready clients as identified by their Job Coach, building a trusting relationship and working on their behalf to find job opportunities.
  • With pace and urgency, work to secure long-term, sustainable employment for job-ready clients. Identify job opportunities that align with client skills, experience, and goals. Facilitate job matching, ensuring a strong alignment between client and employer needs.
  • Maintain accountability for monthly individual employed targets.
  • Ensure employment-related financial support is used to remove barriers to employment for clients, based on WCG eligibility and suitability criteria, and need.
  • Administer brokered incentive agreements with employers, including timely processing and payment of incentives and validating documentation.
  • Work collaboratively as a team with Job Developers and Retention Specialists to ensure effective case management and achieve positive outcomes for each jobseeker.
  • Collaborate with Retention Specialists to complete the Transition & Retention Checklist with clients and employers for Brokered Incentive Agreement (BIA) employment.
  • At the start of employment, support the development of a relationship between the Retention Specialist.
  • Facilitate the distribution of the employer feedback survey and encouraging employers with BIA to complete.
  • Proactively outreach to employers, to identify opportunities not yet available in the competitive labour market.
  • Engage in job carving services – engaging with employers to create, tailor, or modify a job so that it is suitable for the client's capabilities and the employer's needs.
  • Offer coaching support to employers, acting as liaison between client and employer to resolve difficulties and solve problems where necessary.
  • Effectively promote the value of hiring persons with disabilities and other specialized population groups to ensure an inclusive workforce.
  • Create awareness of the range of services available to employers through IES when hiring an individual with a disability (e.g. coaching, retention supports).
  • Conduct pre-placement site inspections prior to the start of a client's employment.
  • Facilitate workshops to help clients understand employer perspectives and workplace expectations.
  • Support clients during job transitions by collaborating with Retention Specialists and employers to address any barriers.
  • Organize and participate in job fairs, networking events, and employer engagement activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes and documentation in WCG's CRM and other required systems, if any.
  • To support site operations, provide front desk support and outreach activities as required.
  • Leverage insights and resources from WoodGreen to align job development efforts with market demand.
  • Participate in ongoing training to enhance skills and adapt to program needs.
  • Create equity in all aspects of service delivery, striving for inclusion and equitable outcomes for all jobseekers who come to WoodGreen.
  • Readily participate in training and coaching to support achievement of targets. Use supervisor monitors and feedback as a constructive learning experience.
  • In an efficient and prompt manner, complete all documentation and data entry per WoodGreen standard operating procedures (e.g. client notes, data entry, referrals, updating forms).
  • Develop and/or learn to facilitate existing materials and deliver in group activities or workshops, both in person and online, as part of a regular rotation of duties within the team.
  • As needed to support site operations, provide customer service support at the front desk, engage in outreach activities and perform other duties.
  • Participate in and complete upgrading training and education as required by WoodGreen.
  • Participate in regular supervisory sessions with the manager, and regular meetings within the unit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Social Work, Social Services Workers, Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum one year experience in job development, business-to-business sales or recruiting or equivalent training
  • Experience in career counselling (e.g. needs assessment, job search, job development, job retention) is an asset
  • Experience in leading group workshops or activities
  • Knowledge of labour market trends, especially related to employment of vulnerable populations including youth, newcomers, OW/ODSP recipients, and long-time unemployed population.
  • Knowledge of pre-employment support methods and re-training opportunities

  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office suite and database applications
  • Ability to meet potential requirement to occasionally work evenings and weekends
  • Ability to report to work at various WoodGreen locations throughout Toronto.
