School Store Assistant

Join our team as a School Store Assistant at Brentwood College School in Mill Bay

The Assistant plays a starring role in ensuring the seamless operation of the school store. This role serves as a key contact for families, students, and staff, fostering strong relationships and maintaining a welcoming environment. The Assistant must exhibit enthusiasm, positivity, excellent time management, and a capacity to pivot efficiently and calmly. Flexibility and the ability to work with minimal supervision or independently are crucial.

We are seeking a motivated individual who will generally work 30-35 hours per week while school is in session (approximately 1100 – 1300 hours per year). You will have a strong customer service background and excellent time management skills. This role may be particularly appealing to individuals engaged in self-paced or evening studies or parents of school-aged children.

What You'll Do

• Provide exceptional service, assisting with uniforms, supplies and packaged snacks
• Oversee daily cash handling and documentation of student and staff charges
• Ensure accurate merchandise replenishment and display
• Assist in product orders, receive items and scheduled inventory checks
• Foster positive relationships with families, students, and staff

What We're Looking For

• Two years of retail experience with key holder or assistant manager experience preferred
• Strong communication, organizational skills and a knack for remembering names and faces
• Flexibility in availability and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• A positive attitude with a commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and customer service

Education / Experience:

• Two years of related retail experience (ie: keyholder, assistant manager) or a suitable combination of education and experience is preferred
• Comfort with technology, particularly Google and Microsoft Office applications like Excel and Google Docs

Notes:

• Criminal Record Check clearance, and
• Eligibility to work in Canada are required at the time of application
• $23.75/hr with a Tuesday to Saturday schedule
• Anticipated to have a January 2026 start (after Winter Break)
