Pottery Studio Technician

Vancouver BC VM W, Canada Kerrisdale Community Centre Full time $150,000 - $225,000 per year

The Kerrisdale Community Centre is looking for an organized and responsible individual to provide support to our busy pottery programs and instructors. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of our studio, which includes both hand-building and wheel-throwing areas. We have 2 kilns in our kiln room as well as a glaze room.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining pottery studio inventory, ordering and stocking such supplies as: clay, tools, glaze materials and kiln accessories
  • Maintaining pottery studio budget
  • Ensuring WHMIS And SDS standards are being met
  • Sourcing and stocking supplies not available from pottery supplier
  • Mixing glazes and monitoring amount of supplies being used
  • Monitoring instructor communication book and communicating on an on-going basis with instructors and recreation staff
  • Enforcing studio policies
  • Maintaining storage rooms & glaze room
  • All firing for pottery instructors (must be completed by the end of each season)
  • Loading & unloading kiln
  • Kiln maintenance
  • Routine cleaning of pottery areas
  • Orienting new instructors to the studio
  • Other related duties as required
  • Periodic assistance with instructor glaze

Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree in a related field (Ceramics, Fine Arts) with a minimum of 2 years working in and/or managing a Pottery/Ceramics Studio, or a combination of education & experience

  • Educational courses relating to Pottery/Ceramics
  • Experience working with budgets
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills
  • bility to work flexible hours
  • Customer service training is an asset
  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset

Remuneration: $30/hour

Hours: Up to 40 hours/month (approximately 8 to 10 hours per week)

Duration of Contract: Seasonal starting January 2026, with ongoing renewals.
