We are seeking a dynamic senior leader to drive Steer's business growth in Canada, strengthen and expand our Canadian consulting team. This role is integral to shaping our presence in Canada, deepening relationships with public and private sector transportation clients, and ensuring that our offerings in strategy, policy, planning, and design are market-leading and future-focused.

Location: Any Canadian Steer office location (Toronto or Vancouver)
Reports to: Executive President, North America

Role Overview

The Vice President / Senior Vice President, Canada, Transportation Infrastructure is responsible for:

Driving Canadian revenue growth by developing and executing a Canada-specific go-to-market strategy in Steer's current and emerging business lines.

Building and developing the Canadian team, ensuring the right talent, capabilities, and leadership are in place to meet current and future market opportunities.

This role requires deep expertise in Canadian transportation markets, strong client relationships, and the ability to bridge market development with organizational growth.

Key Activities1. Canadian Business Development and Client Leadership
  • Develop and execute a business development strategy to expand Steer's Canadian market presence in Steer's current and emerging business lines.
  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with key public and private sector decision-makers across Canada.
  • Anticipate and respond to Canadian market trends, regulatory changes, and funding opportunities.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of winning proposals and presentations tailored to Canadian clients.
  • Negotiate and secure high-value contracts, ensuring alignment with Steer's commercial objectives.
  • Oversee project delivery to align with client expectations and mentor project managers to successful and profitable project outcomes.
2. Canadian Team Development
  • Build and scale the Canadian consulting team to meet growing demand and strategic priorities.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing staff across service areas, with a focus on leadership succession and specialized expertise.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture within the Canadian offices.
  • Ensure staff have opportunities for career growth and exposure to challenging, high-impact projects.
3. Collaboration & Representation
  • Work closely with other senior leaders across North America to coordinate business development efforts and share market intelligence.
  • Represent Steer at Canadian industry conferences, government roundtables, and other public forums.
  • Promote Steer's brand through professional networks, and speaking opportunities.
Requirements
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master's preferred).
Experience:
  • 15+ years in transportation consulting, with significant leadership responsibility for business development and team growth in Canada.
  • Proven track record of securing large-scale consulting assignments in Canadian markets.
  • Experience advising clients on transportation strategy, policy, and planning issues.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Strong Canadian transportation market network.
  • Proven leadership in building and scaling teams.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactically.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Deep understanding of Canadian transportation policy, funding, and delivery models.
  • Willingness to travel within Canada and to the US.
Benefits

In Canada, we offer a competitive package of benefits including private medical, dental, and vision insurance, a group Share Incentive Plan, a 3% RRSP contribution and a discretionary annual bonus (dependent upon individual and company performance).

Additionally, we offer up to 47 paid days off - 22 vacation days, 13 public holidays, 2 volunteering days and 10 sick days – as well as a bi-annual performance review process.
