Job Description
Our client is a dynamic consulting firm offering services in five core areas, addressing engineering and environmental challenges across industries such as mining, hydropower, transportation, oil and gas, and more. With teams spread across North America, Australia, South America, and Europe, they have a strong presence in Western Canada, particularly in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and Saskatoon. The Western Canada team leads exciting projects in areas like water, power, transportation, oil sands, mining, and oil and gas. Their diverse portfolio includes dams, flood protection systems, irrigation canals, hydroelectric facilities, and slope stabilization projects.

What You'll Do:
  • Take charge of small to large-scale engineering projects, guiding them from the initial design phase through to tender, construction, and operation.
  • Lead water infrastructure projects through every stage—from design to construction and operation.
  • Design and analyze dams, hydraulic structures, and flood protection systems to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
  • Manage project plans, oversee construction, review submittals, conduct site inspections, and address challenges with practical solutions.
  • Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments, prepare detailed technical reports, and maintain compliance with relevant codes and guidelines.
  • Build strong relationships with clients while mentoring junior team members to help them grow.
What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • A license as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
  • A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Bachelor's or Master's).
  • Over 10 years of experience in designing and building dams, hydraulic structures, and other water or civil engineering infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in steel, concrete, and wood structural designs, along with knowledge of applicable building codes.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software like Midas, RISA, and SAP.
  • A solid understanding of construction methods and hands-on site work.
  • Experience in managing construction contracts, including submittals and site inspections.
  • Excellent communication skills to craft proposals, reports, and project documents.
  • Strong organizational skills to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget while leading a team effectively.
  • Experience in dam safety inspections, reviews, risk assessments, or failure mode studies is a bonus.
  • A knack for mentoring junior team members and building long-lasting client relationships.
  • Knowledge of dam safety standards (such as CDA guidelines)
What's in it for You?
  • Join a supportive, multidisciplinary team that prioritizes professional growth.
  • Gain leadership experience while working on diverse, impactful projects.
  • Access training programs on technical skills, project management, safety, and more.
  • Collaborate with colleagues around the world.
  • Enjoy travel opportunities within Alberta, across Canada, and even internationally.
  • Be part of a company that values safety, technical excellence, sustainability, and inclusivity.
  • Benefit from a competitive salary, clear professional development pathways, and a culture that fosters innovation, learning, flexibility, and fun
