Wage: Base Journeyperson Rate - Up to $42.00/hr.

  • Agricultural Equipment Design and Manufacturing - Mobile & Processing Facilities
  • Oil & Gas Equipment Design and Manufacturing - Mobile Equipment
  • Millwright and Industrial Mechanic Services – Maintenance and Plant Shutdowns
  • General Machining & CNC Machining - R&D, Repair, Custom and Production Parts/Systems
  • Industrial Plumbing, Process Piping & Mechanical Systems

Metal Fabricators/Welders and Helpers are required to perform some or all the following duties:
  • Comply with and take part in all C&A health and safety program requirements.
  • Comply with all Provincial Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Comply with all Prime Contractor Health and Safety requirements, rules, and regulations.
  • Journeypersons shall possess an Alberta Welding Certificate or Inter-Provincial red seal.
  • Apprentices shall possess the education level (High School Diploma) as mandated by regulatory authorities.
  • Pass CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) welding tests.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and welding process specifications.
  • Work to close tolerances.
  • Use manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal components using processes such as:
    • SMAW – Shielded metal arc welding
    • GTAW - Gas tungsten arc welding
    • GMAW – Gas metal arc welding
    • FCAW – Flux core arc welding
  • Knowledge of metals, relevant product codes, regulations, and laws.
  • Knowledge of applied mathematics (i.e., fractions, measuring and geometry).
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
  • Determine welding procedures to minimize distortion.
  • Operate trade-related equipment.
