Responsibilities:

The Rehabilitation Centre for Children (RCC) at SSCY Centre is a community-based health care facility providing services to children with special needs and their families. RCC requires a Nurse Clinician (N3) to support and provide coordination for the Newborn Follow-Up program within Neurodevelopmental Services.

This position functions as a pivotal member of the multidisciplinary team and practices in accordance with RCC policies and professional standards including family centredness and cultural safety.

Main functions include:

· Initiating the follow-up of neonates "at risk" for neurodevelopmental delays (selected in the Intensive Care/Intermediate Care nurseries of the Health Science Centre and/or St. Boniface General Hospital) and implementation of program for enrolled infants. Exercising clinical judgment to identify children who do not clearly meet criteria.

· Assisting with clinical patient care, developmental assessments, education, research, and statistical analysis on the long-term outcome of "at risk" infants.

· Liaising with health professional of various disciplines regarding issues related to neonatal follow-up in a consultative capacity.

Education, Licenses, Registration & Experience:

· Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required, or Bachelor of Nursing Degree preferred.

· Current registration or eligibility for registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) required and active participation in professional associations e.g., Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.

· Minimum three (3) years recent clinical experience in a level 2/3 intensive care nursery required.

· Previous experience in child development follow-up with the knowledge of specific neurological and developmental assessment tools (i.e. Bayley Infant Neurodevelopmental Screener) preferred.

· Previous experience in a nursing leadership role in education, team management or program development and research methodology and statistical analysis preferred.

· Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to teach and communicate effectively with other professionals, paraprofessionals, patients, and families.

· Proficiency working in a computerized environment with EMR, research data bases, excel, etc.

· Strong organizational skills, capacity work independently and problem solve effectively.

· Emergency First Aid and CPR – preferred

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday – 23.25 hours per week.

Salary: $43.321 – $53.283 per hour as per MNU salary scale.

Conditions of hire:

· Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and able to present a satisfactory Criminal Records Check (Including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry Check.

· Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes.
