This unionized position will provide tenant-focused, respectful, welcoming, and informative front counter services at LMCH, act as liaison between community members and other LMCH departments and assist tenants in connecting with broader community support systems in accordance with LMCH's We CARE philosophy.

  1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Reporting to the Manager of Client Services, the incumbent will work in collaboration with LMCH staff, tenants, and relevant community agencies within the framework of LMCH's mission, vision, and values.

  1. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  2. Provide front counter services; receive and direct visitors and callers, receive and forward messages using computer and voicemail, answer telephone inquiries, refer phone calls to other staff when appropriate, etc.

  3. As a first point of contact with LMCH tenants, promote a comfortable and safe environment where tenants feel valued and respected.
  4. Work to resolve tenant concerns by listening and gathering information; resolve matters with tenants if possible and refer to other staff and community supports when necessary.
  5. Continue to demonstrate a high level of understanding of the various programs offered by community agencies, their intake criteria, and logistical details; warm transfer tenants to community supports.
  6. Assist tenants to complete forms, including tenant report forms, lease renewal packages, maintenance requests, including creation and issuing of work orders, etc.
  7. Cross train in the roles and responsibilities of the Property Services Coordinators (PSCs) to assist in managing maintenance workflow within Property Services.
  8. Assist with courier deliveries, pickups, gathering and distributing mail, scanning, and faxes.
  9. Other general reception duties, including taking payment of rent; preparing bank deposits, providing general information about LMCH services, etc.
  10. Provide onsite services to tenants, prospective tenants of LMCH, their representatives, and the general public as required.
  11. Participate in other community development and engagement events as required.
  12. Enter notes into Yardi as appropriate.
  13. Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with LMCH staff, tenants, volunteers, and providers in the community.
  14. Actively participate in communication, teamwork, staff development, and committee work as required.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

  16. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum of a completed two-year college diploma in social services or in a relevant discipline.

· Minimum of three years of experience in community services.

· Bilingual (French Canadian/English) is required.

· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with French-speaking Tenants is required.

· Ability to work with a variety of personalities using tact and solid customer service skills.

· Teamwork and interpersonal skills with an above-average level of emotional intelligence.

· Strong communication skills, ability to compose clear and concise written documents, and clearly communicate information and answer questions.

· Excellent organization skills.

· Strong knowledge of community-based services and resources.

· Experience working with an interdisciplinary, diverse team.

· Strong computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, Outlook.

· Experience with Yardi or other accounting/property management software considered an asset.

· Experience in cash handling and managing a float and balance payments.

· Training in non-violent crisis intervention, de-escalation, and mental health first aid considered an asset.

· Lived experience residing in social housing considered an asset.

· Proficiency in additional languages commonly used by LMCH tenants considered an asset.

  1. POLICE RECORDS CHECK:

This position requires the successful candidate submit a current Police Records check and Vulnerable Sector Screening from their local police service. A current LMCH employee who is the successful candidate for this position must also provide this document unless it is already on file and not more than one year old.

  1. SALARY & HOURS OF WORK:

Hourly rate range $ $30.99 per hour (Band 3) with comprehensive health benefits and OMERS pension plan.

Normal working hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday with some work required outside of this schedule from time to time.
