Farm Labourer

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Farm Laborer to support daily agricultural operations on our farm. The ideal candidate will assist with care of poultry, maintenance, and general farm tasks, ensuring smooth and efficient farm productivity.

Duties

• Handling animals
• Monitoring animal health
• Track and report on current feed inventory
• Weeding
• Feed and tend animals
• Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
• Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed
• Maintain livestock performance records
• Maintain quality control and production records
• Supervise and oversee growing and other crop-related operations
• Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens
• Maintain work records and logs
• Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock and poultry
• Perform general farm duties
• Write daily basic progress reports
• Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops

Requirements

• Knowledge of care of poultry and livestock
• Well versed in biosecurity practices
• Ability to operate farm machinery and heavy equipment safely
• Mechanical knowledge
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, and general maintenance tasks
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Basic math skills for measuring inputs and calculating quantities
• Prior experience working on farms or in agricultural settings
• Physical stamina to handle long hours of manual labor in a physically demanding environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.60 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
