About UsThe quality and diversity of the Department's research activities continue to distinguish Earth Science within the University, within Canada, and internationally. Our Department has excelled in attracting NSERC and CFI funding for research projects at all scales. Our researchers are involved in several large multidisciplinary initiatives including the Centre for Environment and Sustainability, the Institute for Earth & Space Exploration, the Biotron facility, and the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction, as well as our own internal world-class Research Facilities.
Departmental research is organized into four broad themes, outlined below. These themes capture the wide range of research activities across the faculty; they wide-ranging and are not mutually exclusive. All faculty have research interests that cross these boundaries, and the mutual cross-fertilization that occurs is a reflection of the strength we derive from our broad base.
Course InformationThis course provides learners the opportunity to identify and interpret various types of siliciclastic, chemical, and carbonate rocks; characteristics of sedimentary rocks and their key microscopic and macroscopic features for interpretation of present and ancient surficial and atmospheric processes; diagenetic processes that alter original properties of primary sediment; environmental pollutants and processes in sediment.
ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades.
Candidates must be willing to undertake training as required by the Employer including, but not limited to, training in respect of health and safety, harassment and discrimination, and legislated service standards.
QualificationsCandidates must have a PhD in a relevant discipline (or be close to completion) and a demonstrated record of high performance and expertise teaching at the university-level the specific subject area of any course for which they apply. Preference will be given to experience in teaching or researching in the specific subject area of the course applied for.

Course offerings could be assigned to the workload of full-time faculty or to part-time faculty with seniority or preference rights in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, or left unfilled based on operational/enrolment requirements. All positions are subject to budget approval.
