Job Description

The Opportunity: 

MEGA - Mattel is currently searching for a Sr. Cost Engineer to join the Project Management organization (product development).

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Product Development, the Sr. Cost Engineer will provide timely, competitive and reliable product cost estimate and economic information of products in support of the effective execution of toy design and development, and manufacturing process. He will also participate and deliver cost containment support and work towards a reasonable mix of design value and product costing at all product life cycle stages. He will be responsible for development and implementation of Product Estimation System by application of engineering, manufacturing / product engineering technology and financial knowledge.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Validation of toy production cost estimates. Establish different comparative cost scenarios in order to optimize projects;
  • Maintenance, validation, creation of cost evaluation tools;
  • Verification of cost standards with the various multidisciplinary teams;
  • Analysis of manufacturing processes to validate capabilities, and integrate information into various systems;
  • Evaluation of the different steps related to the decoration of plastic parts;
  • Presentation of the evolution of the prices of products in the meetings of approval with the executive members of the company;
  • Support the development management team;
  • Communication with the various suppliers (validation of estimates, support for design teams and participation in the negotiation of production costs);
  • Active participation in design procedures and optimization of development processes.
Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Operations and Logistics Engineering or Industrial Engineering;
  • 5 years of experience in an engineering role in a manufacturing and product development environment;
  • Knowledgeable in product costing;
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office;
  • Excellent ability to find practical technical solutions;
  • Can manage multiple projects simultaneously, handle pressure and respect deadlines;
  • Team player, organized and hands-on;
  • Understanding of the design of plastic parts and injection molds (asset);
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written (French and English).
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
