Child and Youth Support Worker

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team. This role involves engaging with children and young people in a supportive environment, fostering their development, and ensuring their safety and well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, especially those with disabilities, and possess a genuine passion for teaching and mentoring youth. This position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of young individuals while working within a collaborative team dedicated to community growth and support.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging activities tailored to the interests and needs of children and youth.
- Provide support and guidance to children with disabilities, ensuring inclusive participation in all activities.
- Foster a safe, welcoming environment that encourages positive social interactions among participants.
- Assist in planning educational programs, recreational activities, and skill-building workshops.
- Monitor the behavior of participants, enforce rules, and address conflicts or concerns promptly.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to support each child's individual needs.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and any incidents or concerns.
- Promote teamwork among staff members to ensure program goals are met effectively.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in educational, recreational, or community settings.
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Teaching experience or background in education is a plus.
- Compassionate attitude with patience and understanding for youth development challenges.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Relevant certifications such as criminal record check, child intervention check, CPR/First Aid are required; training can be provided if necessary. This role is vital in supporting the growth and development of young individuals through engaging activities and compassionate mentorship. - Driver's license class 5 is an asset but not required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
