Who are we

Knowles Centre is a community-based, non-profit social service agency for children, adolescents and young adults facing difficult times in their lives. It began as a home for boys in 1907 and today provides a range of therapeutic and skills-based programs to young people from Manitoba and other communities throughout Canada.

Knowles Centre is made up of a team of 110 full-time, part-time and casual employees. Each day we strive to help young people and their families address past struggles, develop healthier relationships and ways of life, and reach their full potential in the future.

S.A.I.L. is inviting applications for Full-time Onsite Workers (term)

Two Position schedules available:

Position 1

Friday – Tuesday 4pm – 12am

Position 2

Tuesday - Saturday 4pm – 12am

Summary: On Site Workers provide support and supervision of clients residing in the SAIL apartments. On Site Workers are also responsible for the security of the apartment buildings, vehicles, and grounds.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing support and supervision of clients residing in the SAIL apartments
  • Ensuring the security of the apartment buildings, vehicles, and grounds
  • Daily documentation
  • Reviewing video footage, addressing observed concerns
  • Supporting clients in exploring their culture
  • Supporting clients with life skills
  • Supporting clients on their path to independence

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum Gr.12, (Post-secondary education preferred)
  • Experience working in an independent living program is an asset
  • Strong interest in working with high needs, at-risk youth
  • Experience working with clients with behavioral and emotional difficulties
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous History, culture, practices, customs and beliefs
  • Respectful of cultural diversity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid in First Aid/CPR
  • Valid Non-violent Crisis Intervention
