Hybrid Job
: This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.

Make a difference
Reporting to the Director of Program Delivery or Chief Development Officer, the Senior Business Manager, is responsible for strategic and operational management of the Division's real estate development strategy including business planning, research, data management, analysis, and reporting.

You will manage processes and internal business operational and governance approvals, develop, write and ensure quality control of documentation and reports between the Development Division and other TCHC business units and external stakeholders to support divisional priorities.

This role helps ensure that the Development Division meets its objectives to deliver new and replacement housing through its revitalization program.

What You'll Do
Leadership and Staff Management

  • As part of the Development Division's management team, provides strategic advice to develop, implement and monitor divisional and program goals, objectives, finances, and staff resource requirements.
  • Provides strategic and expert advice to the Division's Senior and Executive Leadership.
  • Provides guidance and direction to the Division's Business Planners, Development Assistants, and teams for data management, reporting, and procurement processes.
  • Provide leadership through coaching, mentoring and support to merge corporate objectives with operational requirements
  • Develop and manage workplans for staff to operationalize
  • Mentor and train staff to ensure quality and reliable data management, reporting, and compliance with and proper implementation of corporate policies and procedures, relevant legislation, and City guidelines.
  • Mentor staff to develop strong skill technical and interpersonal skills for highly effective stakeholder management.
  • Ensures staff participate in continuous learning in order to advance their skills, experience and knowledge in the delivery of the Development division's objectives.

Development Division Data Management and Reporting

  • Provides advice for the Executive Leadership Team on achieving strategic goals through consistent progress reporting
  • Manages processes to produce monthly, quarterly and annual progress reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, the Board of Directors, the City, and other government agencies of the key strategic initiatives and development projects.
  • Manages and oversees data collection/retention processes related to real estate planning, development, planning approvals, construction, relocation, and engagement.
  • Provides strategic advice and guidance on the interpretation and application of the City policies, directions, and legislative requirements.
  • Integrate and align divisional objectives and priorities with corporate strategic priorities
  • Provides the necessary project oversight and leadership to monitor and adjust project activities, schedules, and deliverables to ensure all deliverables are well coordinated & completed within the assigned target dates.
  • Manage and control divisional documents for quality, accuracy and comprehension
  • Coordinate the delivery of corporate initiatives at the divisional level

Management of Evaluation Processes

  • Provides leadership and manages operational support for evaluation frameworks required to demonstrate impact of strategic programs/initiatives.
  • Leads the development of metrics and KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of strategic initiatives as it relates to the Development Division.
  • Manages the monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of programs, polices, and tools developing measures to evaluate performance for functional teams within the Development Division.

Research, Analysis, and Knowledge Management

  • Develop and manage the completion of internal and external reports
  • Manage research processes for special projects
  • Prepare presentation and communication materials
  • Edit a variety of material and data for completeness, accuracy and adherence to corporate/division standards
  • Ensure internal teams have access to dashboards, reports, and databases in a format and language that is accessible.
  • Collaborates with business units to develop and implement the strategy, creating understanding, buy-in, workplans, KPI's and measurements and supporting change management.

What You'll Need

  • Completed post-secondary education and experience in a relevant field (e.g. Real Estate Development/Management, Project Management, Public or Business Administration/Management, and/or Planning, Policy) or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • 5 years Management/Supervisory capacity or leadership role related to the duties of the position
  • Strong working knowledge of report writing processes is preferred.
  • A strong knowledge of trends in the real estate industry is required.
  • Previous experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.
