CanSleep Services, in Victoria, BC, is hiring a casual Sleep Clinician to support patients diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. This role will be required to support both our Eagle Creek and Oak Bay clinic locations.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Regional Clinical Manager or designated leader, the Sleep Clinician will be expected to work daily with clinical and administrative team members to ensure that CanSleep is delivering the highest level of clinical care and support to current and prospective patients. Our patients are at the center of everything we do.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Home Sleep Apnea Testing
- Review patient history, symptoms, and prescription for Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT)
- Sets up and educates patients on sleep testing equipment
- Converse in a knowledgeable manner when instructing patients to use equipment
- Completes medical questionnaire with the patient to ensure the test is appropriate
- Obtains patient's consent to store medical information and data in patient's chart and share medical information with other medical professionals when appropriate for patient care
- Review and report on HSAT data that has been scored and interpreted
- Liaise with the Patient Care Team to ensure reports are sent to the physician's office and filed
CPAP Therapy (Fitting and Follow-up)
- Sets up and educates patients on CPAP therapy and treatment
- Titrates CPAP pressure as required to ensure the therapeutic effectiveness of CPAP and comfort
- Present, fit, and complete mask sales
- Download CPAP data, analyze, and interpret
- Properly clean and reprocess equipment
- Chart clearly and accurately
- Write physician reports
- Follow-up with patient's compliance
- Check availability and function of all equipment.
- Assist with inventory and maintenance of equipment
- Bring complex clinical situations to the attention of management or medical director when clinical guidance is required
- Maintains product and technical knowledge
Patient Education
- Facilitate and/or participate in group education sessions
- Inform and educate patients and family members on OSA and CPAP therapy
- Plan and deliver short lectures for patient education events
- Complete other duties as assigned
- Ability to communicate with supervisors, physicians and co-workers
- Handle stressful and difficult situations in a calm and professional manner
- Contributes to clinical and business improvement opportunities
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Working hours are to be determined within regular clinic/office hours
- Clean and well lit environment
- Physical demands are minimal
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
- RRT/RPSGT/RN/LPN/CPSGT certification as required by CPSBC (registration must be current)
- CPR certification required
- Superior communication skills and command of the English language (other languages considered an asset).
- Experience with sales is considered an asset.
- Proficient with computers and software including Microsoft Office, Outlook
- Ability and willingness to learn new software and technologies.
- Report to work on time and in proper attire
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Ability to work independently and perform multiple tasks at once
- Work professionally as a team member with other employees while maintaining a positive atmosphere
- Demonstrate self-motivation and persistent improvement in job performance
- Participate in continuing education conferences and seminars
