Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Manager – Procurement, and direction of Sub-Foreman Building Maintenance, the Janitor/Handyperson is responsible for the general maintenance, repair and cleaning of all local telephone buildings.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Cleans, strips, and waxes floors, hallways and stairs.
  2. Dusts furniture, counters, and woodwork.
  3. Cleans and disinfects washroom facilities and maintains janitorial supplies.
  4. Keeps walkways, driveways, and grounds clear of snow and refuse.
  5. Performs minor repairs to buildings and furniture.
  6. Empties and cleans waste receptacles and garbage pails.
  7. Washes windows, walls and other required surfaces.

  8. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of and complies with all legislation and Tbaytel policies relevant to the position and the duties performed.

  9. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Secondary School graduation, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • General handyperson skills.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must successfully undergo a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Driver's License and current satisfactory Driver's Abstract (determined by COTB Fleet)
