Moose Jaw SK SH V, Canada Moose Jaw and District Food Bank Full time

About Us

The Moose Jaw & District Food Bank is committed to ensuring everyone in our community has access to nutritious food with dignity and compassion. We work to reduce hunger through innovative programs, strong partnerships, and the dedication of our volunteers and staff.

We're looking for a motivated, organized, and community-minded Warehouse Supervisor to join our team and help keep our operations running smoothly.

Position Summary

The Warehouse Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the food bank warehouse — including receiving, weighing, categorizing, and safely storing food donations. This role ensures that inventory and distribution systems run efficiently, supports food reclamation partnerships, and helps coordinate logistics for community food drives and fundraising events.

This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in an active environment, enjoys working with people, and wants to make a meaningful impact in their community.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

  • Supervise all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, sorting, weighing, and storing food donations.
  • Maintain accurate records and implement FIFO (First In, First Out) systems to ensure proper inventory rotation.
  • Keep the warehouse clean, safe, and compliant with food safety and occupational health standards.
  • Coordinate with staff and volunteers to support pantry and distribution needs.

Inventory & Ordering

  • Monitor inventory levels and track incoming and outgoing products.
  • Place approved food orders and reconcile deliveries and invoices.
  • Identify inventory gaps and assist with sourcing to meet community needs.

Donation Management & Reporting

  • Record all donation weights, sources, and categories accurately.
  • Prepare regular reports on food intake, waste reduction, and distribution.
  • Maintain transparency and accountability in warehouse operations.

Food Reclamation & Donor Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local donors, grocery partners, and farms.
  • Coordinate donation pickups and ensure timely, professional communication with partners.
  • Support donor recognition and community outreach efforts.

Volunteer & Staff Supervision

  • Lead, train, and support warehouse volunteers and staff.
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment.

Community Engagement

  • Assist with logistics for food drives and fundraising events, including setup, coordination, and transport.
  • Represent the food bank in a positive, professional manner at community events.

Qualifications

  • Experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or inventory management (food-related experience preferred).
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supervising or training staff/volunteers.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and warehouse best practices.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with inventory software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work.
  • Valid driver's license preferred (forklift certification an asset).

Working Conditions

  • Based primarily in the warehouse with regular lifting, sorting, and loading.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work required during major food drives and fundraising events.
  • Requires a satisfactory criminal record check and compliance with organizational policies.

Why Join Us

  • Be part of a passionate team making a real difference in the community.
  • Supportive, collaborative environment that values innovation and compassion.
  • Extended health benefits after probation period.
  • Competitive wage of $18.00–$20.00 per hour and opportunities for professional growth.
