We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented customs rater to join our dynamic team.
Job Description:
As a Senior Customs Rater, you will be responsible for accurately assessing and classifying goods for customs purposes, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in streamlining customs processes and supporting our clients' import/export operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and classify imported and exported goods in accordance with customs regulations
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and policies
- Collaborate with customs authorities and clients to resolve classification issues
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Liaise with CBSA, CFIA, ECCC, and other government agencies to address complex regulatory matters.
- Provide expert support on rulings, refunds, remissions, appeals, and drawback procedures.
- Oversee and facilitate client processing through the CARM client portal, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience as a Customs Rater or similar role
- Canadian Customs specialist (CCS) certification is required, LCB is an assets
- Strong knowledge of Canadian customs regulations and tariff classifications
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills in English
- A second language in Mandarin or Cantonese is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and customs brokerage software
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
