Directional Driller/Locator

G1 Communications is looking for Directional Driller/Locator to join our growing team.

Qualifications:

  • Must have experience doing physical labour outdoors in all weather conditions as the position requires working outdoors year round
  • Must be able to work in fast paced working environment
  • Capable of lifting 50+ lbs

  • Read and interpret plans, locates or diagrams and perform required work
  • Help with site safety (setting up traffic plans, etc.) and assist with construction clean up and restoration as required
  • Strong commitment to safety - adhere to health & safety requirements and Book 7 standards for traffic conditions
  • Load and unload directional drill equipment in a manner that is secure and damage free
  • Transport associated tools, materials and/or equipment in a safe manner
  • Complete a daily inspection on equipment prior to commencing work, set up the equipment and ground it
  • Communicate with the locator/lead via radio to confirm the location of the drill head
  • Assist as required in all locating aspects of the project as directed by the Drill Operator
  • Locate utilities with locating systems
  • Record the depth of the tool head as required
  • Interpret signals sent from underground transmitters about location, angle, temperature, and other factors for the drill operator
  • Prepare the drill fluid based on site conditions prior to boring commencing
  • Clean, check fluid levels and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post-trip inspections and the required paperwork; perform needed maintenance (ie. winterizing equipment)
  • All other duties as required

Required experience:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in directional drilling/locating
  • Previous experience working around existing buried utilities

Experience:

  • Directional Bore Operator: 1 year (Required)

License:

  • Class A driver's license - with an "R" or "Z" endorsement an asset; with a clean driver's abstract and CVOR background
