Job Description:
Group Benefits (GB) Valuation is responsible for the modeling, reporting, and monitoring of Sun Life Canada's GB segment. GB constitutes a significant portion of Sun Life Canada's portfolio, representing over $10B in reserve, and a large proportion of expected earnings. The team is looking to add a highly motivated Actuarial Associate to support core deliverables and special projects.
What will you do?
- Own critical financial reporting, including: reserves, drivers of earnings (DOE), LICAT, and market/insurance risk sensitivities
- Navigate the product's technical complexity, unique risk profile, and policyholder refund accounting
- Support pricing initiatives/quotes, Financial Condition Testing, Actuarial Experience Studies, the Appointed Actuary's Report, and more
- Learn to manage competing priorities and drive for results
- Propose, test, and implement enhancements to existing models, tools, and processes
- Grow within a high performing team and partner with actuaries in Valuation, Pricing, ALM, Canadian Actuarial, Corporate Actuarial, and the Model Management Center
- Be actively pursuing an FSA or FCIA designation
- A knack for problem solving and a willingness to challenge the status quo
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
