Position Overview
We are seeking a
Business Intelligence Specialist
with deep expertise in Microsoft technologies to design, build, and optimize our data-driven reporting and analytics environment. This individual will play a key role in transforming business requirements into meaningful insights through robust data models, reports, and dashboards.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and manage Microsoft SQL Server and related database solutions, ensuring performance, security, and scalability.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize Power BI dashboards, paginated reports, and visualizations to deliver actionable insights.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, design BI solutions, and translate data into clear business intelligence outputs.
- Design and implement ETL processes and data pipelines to support enterprise reporting needs.
- Ensure data integrity, governance, and security across reporting solutions.
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing BI solutions for performance and usability.
- Stay current with Microsoft BI technologies and recommend improvements to processes, tools, and architectures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience working in BI, data engineering, or database development with Microsoft technologies.
- Proven experience in Microsoft SQL Server database design, development, and administration.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI (datasets, DAX, data modeling, dashboards, and reporting).
- Strong knowledge of ETL concepts, data warehousing, and performance tuning.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements into BI solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with Power Automate for workflow automation (preferred).
- Experience with Power Apps for building low-code business applications (preferred).
- Familiarity with Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake) (preferred).
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and security best practices (preferred).
- Exposure to data science concepts such as predictive analytics, statistical modeling, or machine learning using Python, R, or Azure Machine Learning (preferred).

: Vaughan - Hours of Work
: Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 5:00pm, Friday 8:00am to 3:00pm - Primarily an office work environment
