As our Purchasing Administrator, you will be the heartbeat of our procurement process, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and effectively. From sourcing the best suppliers to (eventually) negotiating contracts and managing inventory, you'll play a KEY role in keeping Smith and Long running like a well-oiled machine.

For this position, you will join the team at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. This position is considered entry level with the opportunity to develop into a more advanced role (Purchasing Coordinator or Purchasing Manager) in the future.

As our dynamic Purchasing Administrator, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Operations team with purchasing requests
  • Managing and organizing all documentation requirements
  • Maintaining records of items ordered and received
  • Preparing reports
  • Communicating the status of requests and following up after order completion
  • Assisting project teams with urgent matters
  • Continuously reviewing current processes and making recommendations to improve

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Someone with purchasing experience is not required; however, electrical knowledge is seen as a PLUS
  • A recent graduate of a Supply Chain or Purchasing program
  • A passionate individual who is interested in progressing in the field of procurement
  • An individual with high analytical, thinking, planning, and organization skills that can prioritize and execute in a timely matter
  • Strong attention to detail with an eye for accuracy
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • A friendly, interpersonal individual, especially when in contact with vendors and other employees
  • Ability to follow up on issues when required
  • A tech-savvy individual that is familiar with Outlook, Excel, and Word
