We are currently looking for a permanent Planning Supervisor to join our Meter, Inspection and Planning Services team in our Metro Territory.
Key Elements Of This Role Include
- You will ensure the safe and effective utilization of Regional Planners and Customer Planners for the planning of excellent electric service to customers in your area.
- You will ensure Nova Scotia Power's standards for customer service are met or exceeded by utilizing a skilled workforce to complete scoping and planning activities in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- As the successful applicant, you may be required to work throughout the province based on the business requirements.
- You will be responsible for the safety performance of the business unit by following the safety management system requirements, conducting accident investigations, and ensuring that employees work safely, and the public is protected.
- You will establish a mutually supportive working relationship with other field supervisors, regional and business administration support groups, external business contacts and planning/scheduling workgroups.
- The Planning Supervisor will maintain good labour relations and employee morale by identifying training and development opportunities; ensure vehicles and tools are properly operated and maintained; maintain a current knowledge of rates, regulations, policies, procedures, practices, standards, and collective agreements.
- You will assist in the preparation of budgets and financial projections and will implement cost control measures.
- You must be available for rotational supervisory standby.
- You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
- You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.
This position is considered a safety sensitive position. As such, the successful candidate must comply with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy which requires a confidential pre-employment alcohol and drug test in accordance with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Procedure.

- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated negotiation, communication, organizational and leadership capabilities.
- Grade XII education or equivalent.
- A certificate in the Electrical trade and/or a Certificate in Engineering Technology and/or Certificate as an Electrical Technicians and/or a red seal PLT Certificate would be preferred.
- Adaptable to change and a self-motivated individual who is committed to optimizing the work management and scheduling processes.
- You must possess a valid driver's license, a good working knowledge of computers, knowledge of the work management and scheduling system, and experience in electrical overhead and underground distribution operations would be preferred.
- Previous supervision of employees or external contractors would be an asset.
- Experience in planning operations would be an asset.
