Recreation Coordinator

Must Be Flexible - Weekdays/Weekends/Holidays (if required)

The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for executing and promoting a variety of activities that include internal and external opportunities for socialization across the religious and ethnic backgrounds of Residents.

Requirements and Accountabilities

Set up and take down of activities

Organize, drive and escort Residents on scheduled outings and trips

Involve families and friends, where appropriate, in programming

Visit all new Resident s and fill out Resident interest questionnaire

Assist Recreation Director and Recreation Therapist plan and implement recreational programs

Work in coordination with the Mobility Specialist to facilitate and run Resident fitness programs

Demonstrate knowledge or develop knowledge of acceptable activities programs for seniors

Assist in coordinating the volunteer program, library program, exercise/ activities programs, Resident shopping and outings

Cover the receptionist's lunch hour as needed or as scheduled (coverage days and times may vary depending on the Community)

Participate in professional/in-service training to maintain a current understanding of best practices

Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications

Completion of Recreation Therapy Aide certification an asset

Basic computer literacy including basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word)

Valid license to operate all Manor Village vehicles; operator must be approved by Manor Village insurer

Must possess a high degree of flexibility and tolerance to adjust to changes in workloads, assignments and days (i.e. occasional weekends, evenings etc.)

Must be social and possess interactive communication skills

Must possess high degree of creativity

Previous activities experience of more than one year

Must possess initiative, judgment and leadership skills

Must possess current CPR "C"/AED certification

Physical and Sensory Requirements

(with or without the aid of mechanical devices)

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday

Must be able to lift, carry, stand, bend, squat, crawl, reach and kneel using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time

Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability

Mental acumen

Medium Physical Demand Level: ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 9 kg / 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 23 kg/50 pounds

Working Conditions

Able to work full-time or part-time

Able to work occasional weekends and evenings
